The ethereal sea of cloud between the isles. Its behaviour is peculiar, and every Skyfarer learns its rules early.
The Physics of It
- Airships sail through it — not over, not under. The Mistsea is a medium.
- Magic behaves differently here: divination grows unreliable, teleportation is dangerous.
- Sensors cannot see far. Navigation demands charts, stones, and experience.
- Creatures live in the Mistsea — mistfarers, fog-elementals, and older things in the deeper currents that the trade does not name aloud.
What It Is In Practice
For a Skyfarer, the Mistsea is travel time. It is where the crew eats together between ports. It is where quarrels either heal or fester. It is also where encounters happen — pirates, drifting wrecks, atmospheric storms, and stranger things.
Old sailors will tell you the Mistsea has moods. Some days it sings. Some days it grows silent. The wise listen.
